Composition: Human Albumin, 250 g/L (ALBUNORM 25%)
Availability: ALBUNORM 25%: 50 & 100 mL bottles
Pharmacology: The physiologic function of albumin is related to blood oncotic pressure and transportation function. Albumin maintains the balance of circulating blood volume and transportation for hormones, enzymes, drugs, and toxins.
Indications: Restores and maintains circulating blood volume when fluid deprivation (hypovolemia) occurs and colloid use is required.
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to albumin preparations or other additives
Dosage and Administration: The concentration of albumin preparations, dosage, and infusion rate should be tailored to the individual needs of the patient
Warnings and Precautions: If an allergic or anaphylactic reaction occurs, the infusion should be stopped immediately and appropriate management given. ALBUNORM should be used with caution in patients at risk of hypervolemia and/or hemodilution. Examples of such conditions are: decompensated cardiac insufficiency, hypertension, esophageal varices, pulmonary edema, hemorrhagic diathesis, severe anemia, renal and post-renal anuria.
Side Effects: Headache, flushing, allergic reaction, nausea, etc.
Interactions: No specific interactions of human albumin with other medicinal products are known.
