Lauryl Sulfate Broth is a culture medium used for the presumptive MPN (Most Probable Number) test of coliforms in water and wastewater, the confirmatory test of lactose fermentation with gas production in milk, and the detection of coliforms in food. This medium can also serve as a presumptive medium for E. coli (via a fluorescent reaction) if MUG is added prior to sterilization. It is well suited for use in water, food, and environmental microbiology laboratories.
