Xylose Lysine Deoxycholate (XLD) Agar is a selective differential medium used to detect enteropathogenic bacteria, especially Shigella and Salmonella, in food & Drinks samples. This medium inhibits the growth of Gram-positive bacteria due to its low deoxycholate content, while Shigella and Salmonella can still grow.
